Today the obituaries included the playwright Harold Pinter. Reading it has me thinking of the power of plays & screenplays. I know that power first hand, because watching a production of Cyrano de Bergerac at the American Conservatory Theatre in S.F. changed my life.
I had such pangs of regret on Cyrano’s behalf. Because he felt shame about his nose giganticus, he would not risk revealing his love. As an old man, he found that his life-long love, Roxanne, had loved him all along. What a waste of potential love due to the shyster shame!
I decided from that day, to take risks expressing my love. And later I decided to become an actor. And studied at ACT.
